Riot Games is set to transition Valorant, its widely acclaimed first-person tactical hero shooter, to Unreal Engine 5 in July. This upgrade from Unreal Engine 4 is part of a series of enhancements planned for the game in the coming months, including the introduction of a replay system in September.

Valorant has been utilizing Unreal Engine 4 since its beta release in 2020, and Riot Games has relied on this engine for over a decade to develop the game. The transition to Unreal Engine 5 will coincide with patch 11.02, scheduled for the end of July. Riot assures players that this upgrade will not disrupt gameplay.

The overall aesthetic and gameplay experience of Valorant is expected to remain consistent, while the engine upgrade aims to enhance framerate performance and expedite future patch downloads. Players are eager to see what additional improvements this upgrade may bring, particularly regarding character models and animations. To celebrate the launch of patch 11.02, players who log in during this period will receive a special gun buddy.

New Map in Valorant

Another significant enhancement coming to Valorant later this year is the highly anticipated replay system. This feature will first be available on PC with patch 11.06 in September, followed by a console release later in the year. The replay system will allow players to analyze their recently played competitive matches at launch, with plans to incorporate additional modes in the future.

The introduction of the replay system is expected to assist players in reporting instances of cheating or unsportsmanlike behavior within Valorant. Additionally, Riot is implementing multi-factor authentication to combat smurfing in competitive modes, where higher-ranked players log into lower-ranked accounts to boost their performance. Players will also soon have the ability to report accounts that exploit rank or matchmaking systems.

The upcoming 11.0 patch, set to launch later this month, will also introduce a new map to Valorant. This map will be available in competitive mode from day one. During the initial two-week patch cycle, rank rating (RR) losses on this new map will be reduced by 50 percent, allowing players to acclimate to the new environment.
