The 2026 Polestar 4, notable for its lack of a rearview window, is officially on sale in the United States. Unlike its predecessor, the 2025 model, which was manufactured in China, the new Polestar 4 will be imported from South Korea.

Polestar, a subsidiary of Volvo based in Sweden, is owned by China’s Geely. Due to escalating trade tensions between the United States and China, Polestar’s management decided a deal with Renault Korea Motors to shift production of the Polestar 4 to a facility in Busan, South Korea. The electric vehicles (EVs) produced at this plant will be distributed not only to North America but also to the South Korean market.

Pricing and Variants

The pricing for the Polestar 4 has been announced, with the long-range single-motor rear-wheel drive version starting at $57,800, which includes a $1,400 destination charge. This price is only slightly higher than that of the 2025 model year. Additionally, the dual-motor version of the Polestar 4, equipped with the standard Pilot pack, will start at $64,300.

The EVs assembled there will be distributed to North America, as well as the South Korean market.

Design and Features

The Polestar 4 is designed as a coupe-style SUV, boasting a targeted range of over 300 miles and powered by a 102 kWh battery. One of its most distinctive features is the complete absence of a rear window, a design choice that Polestar claims “enables a new kind of immersive rear occupant experience.” While some reviews noted that the lack of a rear window made it somewhat dark for rear-seat passengers, many found the digital rearview mirror to be a favorable alternative The Verge contributor Daniel Golson said.

Performance Specifications

Polestar has stated that the 2026 Polestar 4 will be its fastest production car to date. The dual-motor versions can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, achieving a maximum power output of 400 kW, or 544 horsepower. Both dual- and single-motor versions will be available, with the single-motor variants featuring rear-wheel drive. The 102 kWh battery will be standard across both long-range versions. A disconnect clutch is also included, allowing the vehicle to disengage the front electric motor when it is not needed, thereby maximizing range and efficiency.

Market Position and Importance

The Polestar 4 occupies a unique position in the Polestar lineup, situated between the Polestar 2 fastback sedan and the Polestar 3 SUV. This model is crucial for the automaker’s future, especially following the temporary removal of the Polestar 2 from its website due to confusion surrounding new tariffs imposed during the Trump administration. Currently, the company is only offering pre-owned versions of the Polestar 2. As a result, InsideEVs notes the Polestar 4 has become the most affordable model in Polestar’s limited North American lineup.

Production Timeline

The 2026 Polestar 4 is set to enter production in South Korea later this summer, with customer deliveries anticipated in the fall.
