Capcom Unveils Resident Evil Requiem at Summer Game Fest Live

While many gamers continue to engage with the latest iterations of the Resident Evil story through various formats, Capcom is preparing to unveil the next chapter: Resident Evil Requiem. This sequel was fully revealed during the Summer Game Fest Live event, which marked the beginning of a week filled with gaming announcements and release dates.

The reveal featured a teaser that intercut moments from previous Resident Evil titles, creating a sense of nostalgia. Initially, it seemed that fans would have to wait longer for more information about Resident Evil Requiem, but it turned out that the wait was only about 30 minutes.

The teaser trailer raised numerous questions, hinting at familiar locations from past games, including Raccoon City and its devastated police department. The narrative appears to center around Grace Ashcroft, who embarks on a journey to uncover dark mysteries, only to find herself kidnapped. Grace is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a character that may not be well-remembered by many fans.

Capcom confirmed a year ago that veteran director Koshi Nakanishi will lead this project, which is definitely not the ninth chapter of Resident Evil, depending on how one counts the series. Nakanishi has previously contributed to the development of notable titles such as Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, among others.

Resident Evil 9 is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. However, fans will have the opportunity to experience a demo of the game in August at Gamescom, so those interested should consider booking their tickets for Cologne, Germany.
