Reddit’s first-ever Chief Product Officer, Pali Bhat, is set to leave the company in “the coming months,” as confirmed by spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt to The Verge. Bhat, who previously held a position at Google, joined Reddit in October 2021.

In an internal message regarding this transition, CEO Steve Huffman remarked, “His tenure was about as clear pre/post test as we could run. He developed a culture of execution, built a talented team, raised the bar, and navigated some of the most challenging and important moments in our history.” This statement underscores the significant impact Bhat had during his time at Reddit.

As the company seeks a new product leader, Rathschmidt indicated that COO Jennifer Wong will oversee user growth initiatives, while CTO Chris Slowe will manage engineering efforts. Huffman will continue to drive Reddit’s long-term product vision. “We’re still focused on expanding globally, building a great ad product, improving search, and making the core product better,” Rathschmidt added.

Bhat’s tenure as CPO included the rollout of various initiatives, such as features to make Reddit simpler and an AI search tool. His time at the company also coincided with significant protests on the platform regarding API pricing, which led to the shutdown of popular applications like Apollo.
