Nexus Mods has over 100,000 mods available for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition.

Nexus Mods, a well-known platform for hosting modifications for thousands of PC games, has officially transitioned to new ownership. This announcement comes from the former owner, Robin “Dark0ne” Scott, who has been at the helm since the site’s inception in 2001.

In a heartfelt message shared on the platform, Scott expressed his excitement about the change, stating, “After months of meetings, face-to-face talks, and a whole lot of soul searching, I am thrilled to say that I truly believe I have found the exact right people for the task” published on Monday.

Scott reflected on his long journey with Nexus Mods, describing it as “my entire adult life.” He acknowledged the challenges he faced, noting that the responsibility of managing such a large platform had taken a toll on his well-being. “The strain of being responsible for the behemoth I created had taken a toll. I realized I had been burning out and that I needed to bring in new leadership,” he added.

While Scott did not disclose the identities of the new owners, he mentioned that users would become familiar with two individuals, referred to as “Foledinho (Victor)” and “Rapsak (Marinus).” According to Scott, these new leaders have “deep roots in gaming, tech, and most importantly, they give a damn; about the site, the community, and the future we’re trying to build here.” This indicates a commitment to maintaining the community-focused ethos that Nexus Mods has cultivated over the years.

Scott emphasized that this transition is not a typical corporate exit or a secretive deal. Instead, he described it as a necessary step for his personal health and well-being. “This is me doing something I probably should’ve done years ago: taking care of myself. Reclaiming some headspace. And finally letting go of the idea that I have to do everything and be responsible for everything myself,” he stated.

Despite stepping back from ownership, Scott will remain involved with the community. He reassured users that he would continue to engage with them, saying, “I’ll still be annoying people on the Mod Author Discord, lurking on the forums, and sticking my nose into community matters when I can’t help myself.” He also plans to collaborate with the new team to help guide the overall direction of the site.

The transition of Nexus Mods to new ownership marks a significant moment for the modding community, particularly for fans of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition, which boasts over 100,000 mods available on the platform. As the new leadership takes the reins, many in the community are hopeful for a future that honors the legacy of the site while also embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.
