Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2: Mouse Control and Enhanced Features

Epic Games has consistently sought to expand the availability of Fortnite across various platforms, and the upcoming release on the Nintendo Switch 2 is no exception. The developer is set to introduce significant enhancements that will elevate the gaming experience for players on this new console it wasn’t allowed.

Enhanced Graphics and Performance

The version of Fortnite designed for the Switch 2 will feature both graphical and performance improvements that align it with the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Players can expect a smoother and more visually appealing experience, which is crucial for maintaining engagement in a competitive gaming environment going all out with the Nintendo Switch 2.

Mouse Control Functionality

One of the standout features of Fortnite on the Switch 2 is the introduction of mouse controls. This functionality allows players to aim using one or both Joy-Con 2 controllers and navigate the user interface with a cursor, closely mimicking the experience of playing on a PC. According to Epic Games, “With mouse controls, the right analog stick will be disabled, and you’ll rotate your character by using the selected Joy-Con 2 controller(s) as a mouse.” The primary click action will be assigned to the ZR button, unless the left Joy-Con 2 is in use, providing flexibility in gameplay.

Gameplay Experience and Performance Metrics

While it remains to be seen how effective the mouse control will be in enhancing accuracy for Switch 2 players, there are numerous other benefits to running Fortnite on Nintendo’s latest console. The game will operate at 60 frames per second (fps) with a resolution of 2,176 x 1,224 while docked, and 1,600 x 900 when undocked. Additionally, players can look forward to improved view distances, enhanced clothing physics, and the integration of Nintendo’s new GameChat social feature, which allows for streaming gameplay to friends.

Transitioning to the Switch 2

As always, Fortnite remains free to play. However, players who have successfully acquired a Switch 2 will need to delete their previous version of Fortnite for Nintendo Switch after transferring their data from the old console to the new one. It is important to note that the graphical improvements and mouse control features will only be available in the Switch 2 version of the game, which is set to be available for download directly from the Nintendo eShop on June 5.
