Recent Product Reviews: VW ID.Buzz, Weber Smoque, Fujifilm GFX100RF, and More

We are covering a wide range of products in our latest slate of reviews. This includes everything from an electric family hauler to a smart pellet grill. Additionally, we have wireless earbuds, a unique camera, and an affordable GPU on the list. For those interested, there are also new Playdate games and a VPN review. Whatever your interests may be, read on for a recap of our reviews from the past two weeks.

VW ID.Buzz

Currently, there is no electric minivan available in the US market, but the VW ID.Buzz comes close. This electric vehicle is a definite head-turner, offering ample cargo space for both passengers and packages. However, it is noted that the vehicle is hindered by some significant issues, as stated in a review: “It’s just a shame that it’s held back by some obvious issues,” senior reviews reporter Devindra Hardawar said. Despite these drawbacks, the ID.Buzz remains a practical choice, particularly for those who do not plan on taking many road trips. As its price decreases, it may become even more appealing.

Weber Smoque

Wi-Fi-equipped pellet grills can be quite expensive, but two leading brands in grilling have introduced affordable models as part of their 2025 lineups. One of these is Weber, whose new Smoque pellet grill offers reliable performance along with all the features that most backyard pitmasters will need, priced at $799. According to a review, “Weber really hit its stride with pellet grills last year with the Searwood, and the Smoque is proof the company has more compelling ideas in the hopper,” I wrote. This model provides a cost-effective option without compromising culinary results.

Fujifilm GFX100RF

Fujifilm claims that the GFX100RF may be a world first, but it is not without its substantial flaws. While the camera boasts an excellent design, sharp image quality, and new controls, it struggles in low-light conditions, has inadequate autofocus, and lacks image stabilization. Senior reporter Steve Dent remarked, “The GFX100RF is fun to use, though, and introduces several innovations like the aspect ratio dial,” he said. Although it may not capture a large market share, products like this can push the industry in new directions and spark conversations that attract new enthusiasts to photography.

AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT

Upgrading your GPU can often be a costly endeavor, but AMD offers a $350 option that is a solid choice for most users. A review states, “The Radeon RX 9060 XT is a reminder of a world where we didn’t have to pay more than $400 to get a capable GPU,” Devindra explained. For the majority of gamers, particularly those not using monitors with extremely high refresh rates or 4K+ resolutions, this GPU provides all the performance they need.

Two Sets of Midrange Earbuds: Skullcandy and Sony

If you are in the market for wireless earbuds priced under $150, we recently reviewed two options within that range. First, Skullcandy’s Method 360 ANC draws heavily from Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra earbuds, although it officially features “sound by Bose.” Senior buying advice reporter Jeff Dunn cautions against expecting flagship quality performance. He noted, “This is still a tier above most budget pairs we’ve tested. It has nearly all the features we’re looking for (unlike, say, the Beats Solo Buds), it’s comfortable, and the sound signature will satisfy bass enthusiasts.”

Sony is renowned for its 1000X line of earbuds and headphones, but the company has also excelled with midrange devices. Its latest offering, the WF-C710N, features a comfortable design and numerous features for $120. However, sound quality is where the most noticeable difference lies compared to more expensive options. As I mentioned, “If I had been able to hit (or even surpass) Sony’s stated battery life, these earbuds would be easy to recommend. Despite that, they’re still a solid option, especially at $120, since the company once again outpaces its midrange rivals with more convenient tools than you’ll find anywhere else.”

Playdate Season 2 and Testing ExpressVPN

Playdate Season 2 will deliver two new games per week for the handheld through July 3. Weekend editor Cheyenne Macdonald has already played the first two entries, Fulcrum Defender and Dig! Dig! Dino!, along with a third title released by Panic called Blippo+. Meanwhile, senior writer Sam Chapman tested ExpressVPN, noting how the service surpasses much of the competition despite its lack of customization options and higher price.
